For many simple structure and not high requirement mask, compression molding is enough. The mold cost is much cheaper than liquid silicone injection mold. Usually the mold cost is 3000-3500USD. And it’s convenient to test different shore hardness for customers. And can also make multiple cavities to improve production efficiency.
Silicone Protective Mask by Liquid Injection Molding's Advantanges:
Silicone Protective Mask made of Liquid silicone is safer than solid silicone mask. As LSR is a two-part platinum-cured silicone, which is high-purity and non-toxic materials. And the hardness range can from 5-90A. For nasal mask, nose plug, which plug into nose directly, the softer the better. do not have teeth and need very soft material to contact with. So the softer the better.Liquid Silicone Rubber can meet all required approvals, such as UPS Class VI, BFR XV, FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 etc.
Liquid Silicone Molded Protective Mask is more precise, with good parting line, no or less silicone rubber flashing, tolerance can achieve 0.02mm. And for some mask can achieve no flashing, and do not need worker to do debur, which can save a lot of time and labor cost. And for some customers want high transparency and clear silicone mask, solid silicone can not meet, only clear and high transparent liquid silicone rubber can achieve the requirement.
Silicone Injection Molded Mask with higher efficiency, the curing time is shorter than compression molding, and do not need to do second vulcanization. For compression molded silicone mask, need to do second vulcanization to achieve 100% food garde. While for solid silicone, can not achieve medical grade, because the material itself' s restrict.
For some mask need to do overmolding with plastic, Liquid Injection Molding is the only choice. Compression molding working temperature(170°C) is higher than LSR Injection Molding (about 130°C). And for plastic materials, temperature resistant is low can not fit compression molding.We custom a silicone face mask for one of customers.The silicone material can cover the plastic part (PC) well, but we found that the PC part was melted in that higher temperature. For common PC material, the highest temperature resistant is 150°C.
