Optical Liquid Silicone, also known as Optical LSR, Optical Liquid Silicone Rubber, Clear Liquid Silicone, Optically Clear Silicone, Optical Grade Silicon, Liquid Silicone Clear, which is a transparent, flexible thermoset material that molded by liquid injection molding (LIM) and is widely used in Telecommunications products, microlens arrays, diffractive optical elements, LED lights and many optical applications and medical industry.

Optical LSR is a kind of very transparent material same as glass across both visible and UV spectra.
Optical Liquid Silicone will not discolor or lose transparency with age or with exposure to heat and UV like PC and acrylic.
Optical Liquid Silicone Rubber is scratch and crack resistant, which helps preserve both its physical integrity and optical properties.
Optically Clear Silicone is lighter than glass.
Optical Grade Silicon can be made flexible or firm with wide hardness range (20-90A), with a reduced chance of breakage. Optical LSR has a durometer of 70, but can still withstand vibrations better than plastic or glass.
Optical LSR is optically and mechanically stable at temperatures up to 302°F (150°C), which means it can be used near a light source.
Clear Liquid Silicone with good Flexibility, so we can combine a lens with a seal to reduce assembly cost, inventory control and seams in the assembly.
Optical LSR can be mixed with colorants or phosphors to extend its lighting capabilities (not available at Proto Labs, yet).

Optical LSR has good Light transmission,which retains up to 94 percent light transmission, compared to glass taht will have light loss with glass retaining up to 95 percent, PMMA around 93 percent, and PC between 88 to 90 percent.
Optical Liquid Silicone Rubber has a low refractive index of 1.42 when compared to PC and PMMA, which are at 1.58 and 1.49 respectively.
