Infant Nasal Mask, also named as Infant CPAP mask, Neonatal Nasal Mask or Baby Nasal Mask, is made of biocompatible platinum liquid silicone by LSR injection molding. Infant nasal mask is the interface to deliver nasal continuous positive airway pressure/CPAP to provide noninvasive respiratory support for preterm babies. The nasal cpap masks are designed using three-dimensional facial scanning to better seal and fit on infants’ nose. Different from infant nasal prongs, the masks designed to anatomically fit neonates’ nose without discomfort. It also requires less force to seal on babies’ faces.
In terms of comfort, infant nasal mask can minimize injury to nares and nasal septum. Neonatal nasal cpap mask just covers the small nose with the thin and soft silicone frame, providing even pressure distribution on the skin. Nasal prongs requires large force for tight fitting, which may cause pains and hurt neonates’ nare and septum. And there are limited size options of the nasal prongs. Inappropriate size increases the discomfort for infants.
●The infant nasal cpap masks are made of soft liquid silicone, which is compliance with ISO 10993 biocompatibility standard. Soft material ensures the comfortable touching with skin.
●Ideal size and depth to keep the nasal masks from touching nose tip.
●The pediatric cpap mask requires less force to seal, and its anatomical shape can avoid leakage.
●Two slots to be compatible with flow tube.
1. Liquid silicone nasal mask mold is more precise than the compression mold. The precision of LSR mold ensures the nasal mask quality and dimesions. In addition, the material feeding, molding pressure, temperature and curing time are well controlled by injection machine, not manually, it is easy to keep stable quality in continous mass production.
2. Flash (burrs) or big parting lines are not allowed on infant nasal masks or nasal prongs, as it affects the wearing comfort and it is dangerous if the neonates inhale the burrs. Nasal cpap masks made by LSR injection mold can be free of burrs and visual parting lines. Those baby nasal masks made by compression molding may have excessive material on the nasal mask rims.
3. Liquid silicone material is platinum cured silicone with low volatiles and high purity, which is safer than plastic material or solid silicone, as it is biocompatible and can work in high temperature +230°C without emitting any harmful substance. Some liquid silicone can be implanted into human body. Compared with infant nasal cpap masks made of solid silicone, LSR nasal masks are extremly clear, and odorless. Most solid silicone products are cured by peroxide, leaving some byproduct residues that need to be eliminated by long-time post curing. Without enough post curing, the volatiles of baby nasal masks made of solid silicone also will exceed the national standard, which is harmful to babies' health.
4. Liquid silicone infant nasal masks form in enclosed injection system. The whole LSR injection process can free of contamination. While in compression molding process, the material is put into open mold plate manually. Dust will contaminate the raw material.
