What is Laryngeal Mask Airway?

Laryngeal Mask Airway (LMA) — also called as Laryngeal Mask, Liquid Silicone Laryngeal, LSR Silicone Laryngeal Mask, which is a medical device that keeps patients' airway open when patients are in anaesthesia or unconsciousness stage, and which is a kind of supraglottic airway device.

How does laryngeal mask work?

The airway tube that connects to an elliptical mask with a silicone cuff which is inserted through the patient's mouth, down the windpipe, and once deployed forms an airtight seal on top the glottis (unlike tracheal tubes which pass through the glottis) allowing a secure airway to be managed by a health care provider.
