Pressure Relief Valve
Pressure Relief Valve, also known as Umbrella Valve, Mushroom Valve and Air Release Valve, is a safety valve made of elastic material like silicone, liquid silicone, nitrile (NBR), HNBR neoprene, EPDM, FKM, FVMQ (fluorosilicone) etc. Pressure Relief Valve is primarily used to automatically regulate internal system pressure and prevent equipment damage or hazardous conditions caused by excessive pressure.
Normal State: System pressure ≤ set value; the rubber disc remains sealed against the seat.
Overpressure State: Pressure > threshold forces the disc open, releasing excess pressure.
Pressure Recovery: As pressure drops, rubber elasticity reseals the disc.
Pressure Relief Valve Applications
Medical Devices:
Ventilator circuits: Prevents excessive airway pressure (e.g., auxiliary relief in PEEP valves).
Infusion pumps/dialysis machines: Avoids fluid line overpressure.
Industrial Equipment:
Pneumatic systems: Overpressure protection in compressors or air tanks.
Automotive fuel systems: Fuel tank pressure regulation.
Household Appliances: Safety relief in electric pressure cookers, water purifiers.
Pressure Relief Valve Installation
Pressure Relief Valve installation can be divided into 2 types:
Pull-in type with long tail: This is the most common and well suited for hand assembly. To install one places the long tail through a central bore in the seat, pull it and the valve pops in place.
Push-in type with short tail: This type is preferred when the placing of a long tail in the central bore is more difficult. For example deep down in the bottom of a cylinder. Or when the upstream side of the valve is not accessible. For example when placing the valve in the wall of a tank where the inside of the tank is inaccessible. This type can also be used in automatic assembly.

Pressure Relief Valves have three key designs & sizes and two key diaphragmatic surface demands:
Umbrella Shaped Diameter: bigger than one-way valve holes
Hook Height: same to plastic & metal panel's height
Stem Diameter: same or maller than assembly holes
Outside Diaphragmatic Surface: EDM process or texture surface for dust proof
Inside Diaphragmatic Ring Edge Surface: Polish or high-polishing for sealing function.
