Medical Umbrella Valve, also known as Umbrella Check Valve and One Way Valve, is made of flexible materials like silicone, liquid silicone, nitrile (NBR), HNBR neoprene, EPDM, FKM, FVMQ (fluorosilicone) etc. Medical Umbrella Valve is designed for healthcare applications, utilizing a flexible elastomeric diaphragm (typically silicone) to regulate unidirectional flow of gases or liquids while preventing backflow contamination.
Medical Umbrella Valve Structure & Working Principle
(1) Basic Structure
Umbrella Diaphragm: Made of flexible material, thicker at the center and thinner at the edges, resembling an umbrella.
Valve Seat: Usually a rigid structure (plastic or metal) with a flow hole.
Retainer (Optional): Used to secure the umbrella diaphragm and prevent excessive deformation.
Forward Flow (Open): When fluid pressure acts beneath the valve disc, the umbrella diaphragm lifts, allowing fluid to pass through the valve seat.
Reverse Flow (Closed): When pressure drops or reverses, the elastic valve disc returns to its original position, sealing against the valve seat to prevent backflow.
